I've had a lucky week. Not "win the lottery" lucky, but at least "ooh, found a nickel!" lucky.
Lucky Event #1
Yesterday I was driving to work on my usual route, and was adjusting tunes on the iPod. About a half mile from my house, there's a 4-way stop. I should note that the right and left streets are just little dead-end cul-de-sacs that never have any traffic. Now, on your typical day, I'd slow down to about 5 mph as I went through the intersection. Today, however, I was a bit distracted by the iPod, so I came to a rare complete stop. As I looked to the right, I noticed that there was a police motorcycle sitting there, just waiting to nail non-stoppers. GOOD LUCK FOR ME!!!
Lucky Event #2
Drove the Ducati to work today. I'm very happy that I've been able to get out and ride since my neck surgery in February. I love that motorcycle.
Well, on the way home, I was stuck in some slow traffic. As I came up to an intersection, which was being blocked in one lane by people turning left, I moved into the newly open left lane and really twisted the throttle. As I hit the middle of the intersection, I hit a relatively large bump that always catapults me in the air in my car (not the whole car, but me as a passenger). Since I was accelerating so rapidly at this point, the bounce made the front tire come off the ground and I did a bit of a wheelie.
This is bad. I'm not skilled enough (or stupid enough) on the bike to intentionally do this sort of thing. Luckily, I kept it under control and eased off the throttle to bring the front wheel back to the ground, making it home safely. GOOD LUCK FOR ME!!!!!!!
I would imagine that the tire only came off the ground maybe 10 inches, but it felt like the picture below (which is also a Ducati Monster, like mine).
Woooooo Hoooooooo!
