I'm moving my blog.  Yeah, after a long time, I figured I might as well go to a free blog site.
The new URL for my blog is http://dcjphoto.blogspot.com

I've been posting some photos on the site, so go check it out!

Mobile Blogging Made Easy

Ok, I have to preface this post with the comment that I'm doing some consulting for this company while I'm looking for a new permanent position.  That said, I really like the application.  I've been having all sorts of fun documenting my recent travels.  Below is their media box plugin, which automatically shows my most recent posts.  Check it out for yourself at http://www.juicecaster.com

You Want a New Post??? FINE!

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  I've been taking some heat recently from Robin & my boy TW.  I have not blogged in forever.  Well, in my defense, blogging is SO 2006.  It's 2007, people! If you want to know what I've been up to, MySpace is the new black.  Yes, even for (nearly) 38 year old men.

Here's a synopsis of the last several months:

1. Met a girl.
2. Fell in love with the girl.
3. Left my job.
4. Am job hunting.
5. Am mostly looking for jobs in NYC.
6. Yes, the girl lives in NYC.
7. Been flying all around and having a friggin' blast since leaving the job.
8. Lots of skiing with my ski pass.
9. This is my second weekend in as many weeks in NYC.
10. Yes, visiting the girl.
11. And job hunting.
12. Am going to Barcelona for 3GSM.
13. The girl has meetings at 3GSM, so the apartment we're renting is paid for by her employer.
14. After Barcelona, going to Paris for the weekend (with the girl).
15. Job hunting!  (Reluctantly)

Anyway, you get the idea.  I'm happier than I've ever been in my life.  Just need to land the perfect job to make it complete!

Schwarzenegger - A Good Governor???

This is really great news.  The Governator worked with California Dems to pass a progressive bill that will require reductions in greenhouse gasses.  What's next - the Kyoto Treaty?!?

Damn I'm Funny

Below is a transcript of an IM conversation I had with my buddy T-Bone today.  Well, his name isn't really T-Bone, but he earned that nickname on Engel's bachelor party in Las Vegas.  Long story.

Anyway, this chat transcript illustrates just how goddamn funny I am.  If I do say so myself.

Vince says:
The - Lighting the Unity Barbecue - joke - still cracks me up
Drew says:
i don't know that joke or i don't remember where it's from
Vince says:
dale's wedding
Drew says:
did i make that joke?
Vince says:
yes
Drew says:
damn, i'm funny
Vince says:
Do you need me to set it up - or do you remember
Drew says:
i forget it all
Vince says:
It was beautiful day in the wine country when Dale and Jen chose to get married at a small to medium sized winery in the valley
Drew says:
i remember that part
Vince says:
Butterflies swooned around Jen's melon as the (Person who speaks during the ceremony) actioned for the bride and groom to be to light the unity candle - I was sitting on the right side of the crowd - you on the left accross the aisle and many seats away from me
Drew says:
i thought the butterflies were just from my hangover
Vince says:
The bride and groom reached for and began clicking the triggers of the fire starter wands - and I looked over to you and you were saying the perfect joke to go with the scene - and I knew it was good - because the person sitting next to you (Lindsey?) started busting up - and I had to know what it waas - so later I asked
Drew says:
now i'm laughing
Vince says:
Lighting the Unity barbecue - so simple

For those wondering, it WAS Lindsey sitting next to me at the wedding.  I can also state, for the record, that I was VERY hung over from the party the night before.  I can also say that I'm probably at my funniest when I feel that way - I don't know why, but I am.

Why I Don't Read The News

"You want the truth! You can't handle the truth! No truth handler you! Bah! I deride your truth handling abilities!" - Sideshow Bob

You know what?  I stopped reading and watching the news a few years ago.  I think the thing that pushed me over the edge was the re-election of GWB.  I simply can't stand US coverage of international events.

I was in Charlotte last week and sat around with some like-minded individuals, one from the UK and others from various blue states around the country.  We all started discussing how uninformed Americans are, and how our media contributes greatly to this ignorance.  I can't stand watching the Conservative Media anymore and long for the days of real insight and analysis without White House spin.

Today, I decided to go read the Guardian, a news site out of the UK.  I found a wonderful article that isn't afraid to call out Israel on their actions against Lebanon.  I actually found myself engrossed in the article - a testament to the quality of writing as well as the content.  I might have to start reading the news again.

How To Spot A Pedophile

There is big news in my new hometown.  Is it the cease fire in the Middle East?  No, it's much bigger than that!  They arrested JonBenet Ramsey's admitted murderer yesterday.  Now, I'm no detective, but have a look at this guy.

Yep, he's a pedophile alright.  A murdering one, at that.  Book him, Dan-o!

Great Quote

I love this quote, from the movie Beautiful Girls.  It's Michael Rappaport delivering the line, which makes it even better when you hear it rather than just reading it.  Nevertheless, it is one of the universal truths.

A beautiful girl can make you dizzy, like you've been drinking Jack and Coke all morning.

Vacation Home in Tuscany

Robin just wrote this post about the home she's buying on Lake Cavanaugh in some back-woods part of Washington state.  I hate to one-up her, but last week I had an offer accepted on a palazzo in the town of Bagnone in Tuscany.  Pretty exciting.

In case you're wondering, a palazzo is defined as:

A fortress-like, three-storied home during the Italian Renaissance, usually featuring a rusticated stone exterior.

I'm not sure about the fortress part, but it is a three-storied home on a piazza with a rusticated stone exterior.  I'd post pictures, but the real estate company just took it off their site!

Well, we'll be there for Christmas, so I'll post pics then.

Hells Yeah!

I've finally completed my move to Denver.  Yes, it's been ages since I posted, but between moving and work, I simply haven't had the time.  Look for a few more posts over the next week.

Anyway, it turns out that my new home town just happens to be the best place in the country for singles.  I've been having a great time so far, and this must be why.  I'm going to have to hit the town this weekend and validate this!
